The Northern Hawk Owl ilike the Snowy Owl is a resident of areas much
north of here, in upper Canada but comes south looking for food prey
when it's normal food sources are sparce. This winter has brought
3 separate Hawk Owls south to parts of NY State. This photo is of
the one that has taken up winter residence in Peru, NY. The other
two have been seen in Chazy, NY and Potsdam, NY.
